Self-supporting children's bed frame 80x160 — a complete bed without a bedstead
The 80x160 size is a classic of the children's room — big enough for a child of nursery and early school age, and at the same time easy on space. This frame needs no bed and no bed box — it stands directly on the floor on its own legs. You put the mattress on top and the room is ready.
This is a solution known from hotels and student halls, where a bed has to survive years of heavy use. In a child's room it works for the same reason, and it also saves you the cost of a bedstead.

Assembly
You assemble the frame yourself from ready-made parts — the frame, the corner legs and a full set of slats are included. Nothing has to be cut, drilled or adjusted. The assembly instructions are available for download above the description.
Placing it in the room. The frame stands on four legs and needs no support at the sides, so you can put it anywhere — against a wall, in the middle of the room, or two of them side by side. It is only worth checking that the floor is level; where it is uneven, a thin shim under one of the legs is enough.

Is a bed needed for this frame?
No. The construction is self-supporting — it stands directly on the floor on its own legs. A mattress is all you need. If you want to fit it inside an existing bedstead, choose the insert version, which has no legs.
What age of child is the 80x160 size suitable for?
A bed 160 cm long usually serves from the age of 3 to 10. After that, it is worth moving on to the 90x200 or 100x200 size, which we make in the same construction.
Will the frame stand up to jumping on the bed?
Children jump on beds and no instruction manual will change that — so it is worth knowing what decides durability.
The construction is built for it. A steel 40x30 mm profile with a 1.5 mm wall handles dynamic loads incomparably better than wood, which dries out over time and starts to work loose at the joints. This very same frame is in service in hotels and student halls, where dozens of users pass through every year.
What does deserve attention is the mattress. With a thin mattress, the whole force of the jump strikes one or two slats at a single point — and those can simply snap. Not because they are weak, but because nothing spread the pressure. A mattress of the right thickness cushions the impact and distributes it across many slats at once. It is the same principle as walking on snow in boots versus on skis.
Apart from that, it is worth retightening the bolts in the corners now and again — as with any bolted furniture.
